A fantastic opportunity has become available for a passionate and motivated nursing leader with solid clinical expertise to join the leadership team of the 40-bed acute General Medical Ward at a private hospital in Melbourne.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Nurse Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing clinical leadership to the General Medical Ward, ensuring alignment with the hospital's strategic goals, operational processes, and quality management for all patients;
  • Overseeing the clinical and operational direction of the unit to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of evidence-based nursing care;
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the unit, including accountability for human, financial, and material resources;
  • Ensuring the ward functions smoothly while maintaining high standards of patient care and team collaboration.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Registration with AHPRA;
  • Working with Children check;
  • At least 3 years of previous experience at NUM level or equivalent;
  • Compliance with ACSQHC National standards;
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role;
  • Computer literacy including MS Office and various databases;
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment;
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills;
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management;
  • Demonstrated HR management experience.

The hospital, located in Melbourne's northwestern suburbs, is a fully accredited 186-bed major surgical, acute medical, and emergency facility. With a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, a 12-bed critical care complex and a busy Day Procedure Unit, the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.
