An excellent opportunity has become available for a dynamic and highly motivated Nursing Manager to lead the professional team in the Perioperative Department at a private hospital in Newcastle.

ROLE OVERVIEW
As Nurse Unit Manager (Floor Coordinator) you will be:
  • Providing leadership and direction to the perioperative service;
  • Providing operational direction for the perioperative service to ensure efficient and effective management of the area;
  • Working as part of the healthcare team in the perioperative setting;
  • Coordination and allocation of staff;
  • Understanding of legislative requirements, ACORN, and Sterilisation standards;
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes and Quality/Risk management;
  • Ensuring workplace health and safety guidelines and policies are met;
  • Assisting in managing Budgets and attainment of budgetary targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the successful applicant, you will possess the following attributes:
  • Current AHPRA registration; 
  • Working with Children check;
  • Hold a current NSW WWCC;
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing);
  • At least 5 years of experience as an RN in the Perioperative setting;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Post-graduate qualification in perioperative nursing or working towards (Desirable);
  • Prior experience as an In-charge RN or Acting Floor coordinator (Desirable);
  • Human resource management experience (Desirable).

ABOUT THE FACILITY

The hospital, located in Newcastle, is an 189-bed, acute, private facility with 11 theatres, including a hybrid theatre and a 15-bed Intensive Care Unit. The Maternity Unit comprises a Birthing Suite, Maternity Ward, and Special Care Nursery. Birthing Suite has 6 rooms on the ground floor, with Croudace Operating Theatres adjacent. The Maternity Ward encompasses 38 beds combined with antenatal and postnatal rooms.
