A new opportunity is available for an experienced, motivated, and clinically knowledgeable Senior Nurse Educator - Critical Care to join the Quality, Risk & Education team at a private hospital in Sydney. This position is available on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 4 days per week).
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will work closely with the Quality, Risk & Education Services Manager to lead hospital-wide critical care education initiatives, strengthen capability across ICU, CCU, ED, CAU, PACU and associated high-acuity areas, and support the professional growth of Nurse Educators (NEs) and Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs). You will also play a key role in quality improvement, National Standard 8 (Recognising & Responding to Deterioration), and National Standard 4 (Medication Safety) incident reviews, and ensuring education supports safe, high‑quality patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading critical care education programs across high-acuity areas;
- Coordinating and delivering ALS and PALS education programs;
- Supporting access to NALS education programs;
- Providing clinical guidance to educators and preceptors;
- Developing critical care education and competency frameworks;
- Supporting nurse orientation and upskilling in critical care;
- Facilitating simulation training and emergency responses;
- Conducting post-emergency debriefs;
- Participating in clinical safety and medication committees;
- Leading quality improvement and patient safety initiatives;
- Collaborating with clinical leaders to identify learning needs;
- Mentoring and supporting ward-based educators;
- Overseeing LMS compliance and education reporting;
- Conducting gap analyses and implementing education plans;
- Evaluating education outcomes using quality metrics;
- Championing innovative and digital learning methods;
- Promoting reflective practice and clinical supervision;
- Supporting professional development and lifelong learning.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current AHPRA registration;
- Minimum 8 years post‑graduate clinical experience, with extensive experience in critical care (ICU, ED, or CCU);
- Minimum 4 years' experience as a Critical Care Nurse Educator or equivalent advanced education role;
- Demonstrated experience in delivering ALS/PALS or advanced resuscitation training;
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
- Post‑graduate qualifications in Critical Care Nursing;
- Evidence of developing, delivering, and evaluating specialty education programs;
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills;
- High digital literacy including LMS administration and Microsoft Office;
- Comprehensive understanding of NSQHS Standards, particularly Standards 4 and 8;
- Postgraduate qualifications in education, clinical teaching, leadership, or management (desirable);
- Familiarity with systems, processes, and education frameworks (desirable);
- Instructor credentials in ALS/PALS or equivalent courses (desirable).

The Operating Theatre complex has 16 theatres, 32 first-stage recovery bays, and an additional 32 second-stage chairs.
