An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Registered Nurse with Scrub Scout experience to join the Operating Theatre Team at a private hospital near Newcastle on a part-time basis. This is an opportunity to work across robotic, orthopaedic, and a variety of specialities. ABOUT THE POSITION
As a member of the Perioperative Team, you will plan, deliver and evaluate patient care with the support and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse and Shift Leaders, ensuring a high standard of safe, patient-centred surgical care.

In this role you will be:
  • Performing scrub and scout duties across a rotating range of robotic, orthopaedic, and other surgical specialties;
  • Supporting perioperative workflow, maintaining timely and efficient theatre schedules;
  • Communicating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists and the broader perioperative team;
  • Maintaining instrument, swab and specimen accountability in line with ACORN standards;
  • Upholding a culture of safety, infection control and professional practice throughout all interactions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current registration with AHPRA;
  • Minimum two (2) years' scrub/scout experience across surgical specialties (essential);
  • Demonstrated understanding of ACORN standards, aseptic technique and instrument management;
  • Effective communication skills and a strong customer service focus;
  • Ability to assess, plan and coordinate patient care needs in the perioperative setting;
  • Flexibility to work a rotating 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends;
  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing will be highly regarded.

ABOUT THE FACILITY 

The hospital is an acute Advanced Surgical and Medical Hospital situated 15 km south of the Newcastle CBD. The hospital offers the following specialties: Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, General Surgery (including Colorectal), Breast Surgery, Plastics, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Vascular and Oncology. The 6-bed emergency department includes a state-of-the-art resuscitation room, triage room, and procedure room.
