An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Neurosurgical Clinical Nurse Consultant to join a leading private hospital in Sydney. This full-time role offers a unique split position, with 0.5 FTE providing advanced clinical support within East Ward and 0.5 FTE working as a Practice Nurse supporting three specialist doctors.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Neurosurgical Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical leadership and coordination across the entire neurosurgical patient journey. You will ensure seamless continuity of care from referral and pre-operative assessment through to inpatient admission, discharge planning and postoperative follow-up. The CNC serves as the key liaison for patients, families, multidisciplinary teams and international referral partners, including CAFAT (Noumea), promoting exceptional patient experience and optimising clinical outcomes. You will be the clinical link between the consulting rooms, hospital, multidisciplinary team and community, ensuring patients receive timely, evidence-based, person-centred care. The role supports improved patient outcomes, enhanced communication, streamlined care coordination and exceptional patient experience.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration with AHPRA;
- Appointment at Clinical Nurse Consultant level or demonstrated capability to practice at CNC level;
- Minimum five years' experience in neurosurgical or neuroscience nursing;
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills;
- Excellent communication, coordination and patient education skills;
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams;
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and quality improvement experience;
- Postgraduate qualification in Neuroscience Nursing or a related specialty (desirable);
- Experience working within a specialist medical practice (desirable);
- Experience in outpatient care coordination and perioperative services (desirable);
- Experience leading clinical practice improvement initiatives (desirable).

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Western Sydney, is a modern 212-bed facility with 12 Operating Theatres and two Cardiac Cath labs. The hospital performs a full range of elective surgeries, including cardiac, neurosurgery, urology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, colorectal, general, plastics, obstetrics, Paediatric, ENT, and Spinal Surgery. The 16-bed ICU provides specialised care for patients who require constant monitoring, intensive nursing care and advanced respiratory, cardiac and renal support therapies.
