POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying educational needs by partnering with Nursing Leaders (i.e. DON, NUM, CNS) and Clinical Support Functions (i.e. Quality, Infection Control) to determine team and individual learning needs in the theatres department;
- Leading and fostering a learning environment by designing, developing and facilitating education packages, providing team and individual coaching and coordinating subject matter experts (external and internal) to deliver training;
- Working with other educators, local universities and accredited training providers to facilitate the needs of undergraduate placements;
- Prioritising patient safety and quality frameworks by identifying areas of improvement, participating in case reviews and clinical audits as required, and initiating quality improvement projects;
- When required, participating in National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards and risk committees/meetings;
- Acting as a valued member of the interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care and quality education by providing supervision and teaching to staff, and actively contributing to team processes and practices.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registration with AHPRA;
- Demonstrated effective skills in communication (written and verbal), problem solving, managing people and coaching;
- Work Experience (at least 3 years) in the Theatres Department;
- Understanding of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards;
- Certificate in workplace assessment and training (desirable);
- Post Graduate certificate in Clinical Education (or working towards) (desirable);
- Post Graduate qualification in scrub scout and anaesthetics (desirable).

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Sydney, is a 98 patient-beds facility and provides a large range of medical and acute services, including seven operating theatres, an Angiography suite, 10-bed Intensive Care Unit, a Maternity Unit, a Level Two, six patient-bed Special Care Nursery as well as a Day Surgery Unit, Mental Health Unit, Oncology Department as well as pharmacy and radiology services.
