ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Anaesthetics, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of anaesthetic services. You will act as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for your colleagues, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and upholding the highest standards of patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing advanced clinical care and performing comprehensive assessments for patients requiring anaesthesia across a range of surgical specialties;
- Assisting Anaesthetists with the administration and monitoring of anaesthesia;
- Managing patient airways, ensuring adequate ventilation, and monitoring haemodynamic stability;
- Acting as a resource and mentoring junior nursing team members while facilitating their professional development;
- Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures related to anaesthetic nursing;
- Contributing to risk management and quality improvement activities within the operating theatre;
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records;
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant professional, ethical, and legal standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA;
- Postgraduate qualification in Anaesthetic Nursing or equivalent experience;
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist in anaesthetic nursing;
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities;
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice;
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
- Experience in clinical education or preceptorship (desirable).

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in the Tamworth region, is a Medical & Surgical Hospital with a large Day Surgery Unit adjacent to the 3 operating theatres, a large procedure room, and a High Dependency Unit. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, endoscopy, ophthalmology, gynaecology and rehabilitation.
