New opportunities have arisen for an experienced Infection Control Nurse to join the team in a permanent full-time or part-time position at a high-acuity private hospital in Perth. Reporting to the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Manager, you will contribute to the hospital's infection surveillance, prevention, and control program.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This role is ideal for a nurse with demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control who is passionate about promoting best practice and patient safety.
As the Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with end-to-end Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) processes;
- Promoting safe and effective infection prevention and control practices across the hospital;
- Coaching, guiding, and educating staff on IPC best practice;
- Participating in and coordinating case review investigations;
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of IPC guidelines, standards, and requirements within healthcare settings;
- Communicating information clearly and concisely while actively listening and engaging with individuals and teams;
- Working effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and commitment to best practice;
- Influencing staff, managers, and VMOs while supporting data collection and analysis to uphold high standards;
- Collaborating with clinical teams to identify and manage healthcare-associated infections and implement transmission-minimising strategies;
- Coordinating daily IPC service activities, including auditing and targeted surveillance of healthcare-associated infections;
- Preparing reports and supporting infection prevention performance monitoring.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registration with AHPRA;
- Knowledge of IPC Programs;
- Excellent communication skills and a strong desire to collaborate with internal stakeholders;
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Sound computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite & database management;
- Completed or currently working towards postgraduate studies or courses relevant to IPC. E.g. Post Graduate Certificate or Master's in Infection Prevention and Control or Australasian College of Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) Foundations Course;
- Registered Nurse Immuniser (or evidence of currently working towards achievement) (desirable);
- Hand Hygiene - Standard Auditor (desirable).
