Experienced Infection Control Nurse roles are now available in Perth for a permanent full-time or part-time appointment within a high-acuity private hospital. Reporting to the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the hospital's infection surveillance, prevention and control programme, helping to drive best practice and patient safety across the organisation.
 
About the role
This position suits an Infection Control Nurse with strong clinical expertise in infection prevention and control, who enjoys education, auditing, surveillance and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced acute setting.
 
Key responsibilities
As the Infection Prevention & Control Nurse, you will:

  • Support end-to-end IPC processes, including surveillance, prevention and control activities
  • Promote safe, evidence-based infection prevention practices across clinical areas
  • Coach, guide and educate staff on IPC best practice and compliance requirements
  • Participate in and coordinate case reviews and investigations
  • Apply strong working knowledge of relevant IPC guidelines, standards and legislation
  • Communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams, actively listening and influencing positive change
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to identify and manage healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and implement transmission-minimising strategies
  • Coordinate daily IPC service activities, including auditing and targeted surveillance
  • Prepare reports and support infection prevention performance monitoring, including data collection and analysis
  • Build effective relationships with staff, managers and VMOs to uphold consistently high standards

 
Requirements
To be considered, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within IPC programmes
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and database management)
  • Completed, or currently working towards, relevant postgraduate study (e.g., Graduate Certificate/Master's in Infection Prevention & Control or ACIPC Foundations Course)

Desirable

  • Registered Nurse Immuniser (or working towards)
  • Hand Hygiene - Standard Auditor

Remuneration
$40.25 - $53.17 per hour (depending on experience)
