New opportunities have arisen for an experienced Anaesthetic Nurse to join the Perioperative Services - Anaesthetics Department on a full-time or part-time basis at a private hospital in Brisbane.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Registered Nurse, your duties and responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:
- Assessing, preparing, and supporting patients undergoing anaesthesia;
- Assisting anaesthetists during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia;
- Preparing and checking anaesthetic equipment, medications, and consumables prior to procedures;
- Ensuring anaesthetic machines and monitoring equipment are operational and compliant with safety standards;
- Monitoring patients throughout the anaesthetic phase and promptly communicating changes in patient condition;
- Assisting with airway management and emergency situations as required;
- Participating in emergency response procedures, including cardiac arrest and malignant hyperthermia management;
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements;
- Practising in accordance with current ANZCA professional standards, guidelines, and recommendations, ensuring the safe delivery of anaesthetic care and the maintenance of a high-quality perioperative environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current AHPRA registration;
- Demonstrated experience in anaesthetic nursing within a perioperative environment;
- Sound knowledge of anaesthetic equipment, medications, and monitoring requirements;
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
- Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous quality improvement;
- Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or working towards completion (desirable);
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (desirable);
- Experience in a private hospital setting;
- Knowledge of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards;
- Participation in quality improvement and professional development activities;
- Maintenance of mandatory competencies and training requirements.

REMUNERATION
$36.74 - $66.23 per hour.

The hospital, located in the South East of Brisbane, has 120 inpatient Surgical and Medical beds, a rehabilitation gym, 7 operating theatres, 2 procedure rooms, a day oncology unit, and an ICU; the facility provides care to the local community for over 40 years and continually embraces the highest quality of holistic patient care.
