An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and experienced Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join the team at a leading private hospital in Brisbane. Permanent full-time, part-time, and casual positions are available. The PACU operates Monday to Friday, with shifts rostered between 6:30 am and 9:00 pm. The role also includes participation in an on-call roster and the opportunity to work occasional weekend shifts to support operational requirements.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients recovering from anaesthesia and surgery;
- Conducting comprehensive post-operative assessments, including monitoring airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, pain, and surgical sites;
- Recognising and responding promptly to patient deterioration and post-operative complications;
- Monitoring and interpreting vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other clinical observations;
- Administering medications, including analgesics, antiemetics, and other prescribed therapies;
- Managing acute pain and implementing pain management strategies in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team;
- Maintaining airway patency and providing respiratory support as required;
- Communicating effectively with anaesthetists, surgeons, ward staff, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care;
- Maintaining compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and hospital policies.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration with AHPRA;
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent;
- Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in PACU;
- Commitment to Quality Patient Care;
- Relevant Post Graduate qualification;
- Sound clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication and customer service skills;
- Works well independently and within a team;
- Training in both Anaesthetics and PACU is highly desirable.

REMUNERATION
$39.66 - $52.97 per hour.
