The Perioperative Services department is seeking skilled Perioperative Nurses with scrub and scout experience to join the Theatre and Recovery team at a private hospital in Port Macquarie. This is a part-time opportunity, working across intraoperative and post-operative care and playing a key role in ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence throughout the surgical journey.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this dual role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care across both intraoperative scrub/scout duties and post-anaesthetic recovery. As a member of the clinical team, you will plan, deliver and evaluate patient care with the support and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse and Shift Leaders, to ensure a high standard of quality service is provided to patients.
- Assisting with intraoperative patient care, including scrub, scout and circulating duties as required;
- Providing specialised post-operative monitoring and management in the recovery setting, including airway management, haemodynamic monitoring, pain and nausea control;
- Responding to unexpected outcomes and applying problem-solving skills in emergencies within the perioperative department;
- Collaborating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists and the nursing team to achieve safe and efficient patient transitions;
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with ACORN standards and Ramsay Health Care policy;
REQUIREMENTS
- Current and relevant registration with APHRA;
- Minimum two (2) years' perioperative nursing experience in theatre or recovery;
- Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate patient care needs in a surgical setting;
- Sound knowledge of infection control principles and ACORN standards;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a high standard of customer-focused service;
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive working relationships;
- Flexibility to work a rotating 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends;
- Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing will be highly regarded.

The hospital, located in Port Macquarie, is a 72-bed acute Medical/Surgical and Rehab facility with 6 Renal Chairs and a Day Surgery complex. Comprehensive Medical/Surgical services are offered with 24-hour Medical Officer Support, including Orthopaedics, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Bariatric and Vascular, Plastic & Ophthalmology.
