An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Nurse motivated to expand their leadership skills and take on the role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a 32-bed Cardiothoracic Unit at a private hospital near Newcastle on a part-time basis (Parental Leave Contract). 

POSITION OVERVIEW
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting nursing and clinical support staff;
  • Providing expert clinical guidance and problem-solving within your specialty;
  • Assisting in planning and implementing policies, procedures, and quality initiatives;
  • Promoting a culture of safety, risk management, and infection control compliance.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful applicant will possess:
  • Current registration with AHPRA;
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in the specialty;
  • High-level clinical competence and problem-solving ability;
  • Experience in mentoring, training, and developing staff;
  • Strong knowledge of quality and infection control processes;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and patients.

ABOUT THE FACILITY 

The hospital is an acute Advanced Surgical and Medical Hospital situated 15 km south of the Newcastle CBD. The hospital offers the following specialties: Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, General Surgery (including Colorectal), Breast Surgery, Plastics, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Vascular and Oncology. The 6-bed emergency department includes a state-of-the-art resuscitation room, triage room, and procedure room.
