A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced and visionary nursing leader to take on the role of Nurse Unit Manager within a brand-new Emergency Department at a private hospital in Melbourne. ABOUT THE ROLE
Working with the Assistant Director of Clinical Services and as a part of the management team, you will work with and support nursing staff in achieving excellence in care delivery in line with best practice and legislative requirements.
This key leadership role will see you:
- Applying advanced nursing practices in planning, implementing, and evaluating care in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards;
- Supervising, leading, directing, and motivating staff to achieve outcomes while effectively managing financial and human resources;
- Being a positive mentor and providing clinical leadership and support to the team;
- Effectively managing roster processes and allocating duties to clinical staff;
- Demonstrating the ability to manage challenging and complex situations;
- Demonstrating a high level of communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills;
- Working collaboratively with and supporting other managers within the wider hospital community to achieve excellence in patient outcomes;
- Assisting in shaping organisational strategy, improving procedural service provision, and achieving departmental and hospital strategic objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA;
- Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience in the Critical Care environment;
- Experience within Emergency/Critical Care is essential;
- Experience in managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering and performance management;
- Previous experience as a senior nurse or manager will be highly regarded;
- Strong leadership skills and confident in delegating duties.

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Melbourne, is an acute Medical/Surgical facility. It is proud to offer its staff and patients world-class care in a contemporary environment that currently provides 215 beds, 11 state-of-the-art operating theatres, and an Intensive Care Unit. It is undergoing a $180m significant development which will see the hospital almost double in size, including additional beds, operating theatres, a new expanded ICU, and an Emergency Department in addition to new Support Services.
Cardiac Ward is a 26 bedded Ward with 8-bedded CCU facilities, managing a mix of medical and surgical patients.
