An exciting opportunity exists to join a leadership team as an After-Hours Coordinator, working alongside a highly experienced team in a dynamic environment at a private hospital in Melbourne. This is a permanent full-time role. 

ABOUT THE ROLE
This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operational management of the hospital afterhours. You will be the central point of coordination, providing clinical leadership and operational oversight to maintain excellence in patient care and team performance.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the planning, coordination, and evaluation of care delivery and hospital services to ensure seamless patient flow and optimal safety;
  • Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and legislative requirements to uphold clinical best practice;
  • Collaborating closely with Shift Leaders, Clinical Managers, and Visiting Medical Officers to drive high standards of care and professional accountability;
  • Leading and inspiring a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of compassion, teamwork, and continuous improvement;
  • Championing teamwork and clinical excellence by partnering with Shift Leaders, Clinical Managers, and Visiting Medical Officers to deliver coordinated care, ensure adherence to best practices, and achieve optimal patient outcomes;
  • Championing communication and collaboration across departments to enhance both patient and staff experience;
  • Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, contributing to strategic planning and ongoing service excellence.
REQUIREMENTS
To be successful, you will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse;
  • A minimum of 5 years' postgraduate experience in acute care;
  • Experience in orthopaedics (highly regarded);
  • Proven ability to lead by example and act as a clinical role model;
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Situated in Melbourne, this advanced 152-bed private surgical and medical hospital offers a comprehensive range of clinical services and state-of-the-art facilities. In collaboration with some of Australia's leading orthopaedic surgeons, the hospital has built a strong reputation for excellence in orthopaedic surgery, including joint replacement procedures and the management of sports injuries. The facility features 11 fully equipped operating theatres, a large day surgery centre, a High Dependency Unit, a dedicated Dermatology Centre, and advanced interventional imaging services, including MRI, CT, and Ultrasound. A full suite of onsite support services is available, including Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Discharge Planning services, ensuring seamless, patient-centred care across the continuum.
