An excellent opportunity exists for a values-driven leader to take on a key operational and clinical leadership role of Director of Nursing within a private hospital in Melbourne.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Director of Nursing, you will lead the delivery of safe, high-quality clinical care while supporting operational efficiency, team performance, and ongoing accreditation readiness. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a close-knit environment and enjoys being hands-on, visible, and directly involved in the success of both people and services. 

Your responsibilities will involve:
  • Providing effective leadership and oversight across nursing, day procedure, and clinical support teams;
  • Driving continuous improvement in patient outcomes, safety, and service delivery;
  • Fostering a collaborative and accountable culture with a strong focus on staff engagement and capability;
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant clinical, legislative, and accreditation standards;
  • Building strong partnerships with VMOs and operational leaders to support effective patient flow and service planning. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Registration with AHPRA;
  • Proven experience as a nursing leader managing high-performing clinical teams in fast-paced environments;
  • Strong knowledge of elective surgery, day procedures, and short-stay care;
  • Ability to lead across multiple functions, including oncology, perioperative services, and quality systems;
  • Approachable, proactive, and solutions-focused leadership style;
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, consistency, and empowering teams to deliver outstanding patient care.

The hospital, located 30 km east of Melbourne CBD, is an acute Medical, Surgical and Oncology hospital providing excellence in customer service and patient care. Specialities include general medical, ENT, Plastics, gastroenterology, Gynaecology, Oral and maxillofacial surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular, Respiratory Medicine, and comprehensive oncological service.
