An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Oncology Nurse to join a growing team at a private hospital in Caboolture. This pivotal part-time role involves delivering high-quality, specialised nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and supportive care.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will work within a multidisciplinary team, advocating for patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert clinical care to oncology patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care;
- Administering chemotherapy and other cancer treatments safely and according to established protocols;
- Monitoring patients for adverse reactions and managing side effects effectively;
- Educating patients and their families on treatment plans, medication management, and symptom control;
- Offering emotional support and psychological care to patients and their support networks;
- Collaborating effectively with oncologists, allied health professionals, and other nursing colleagues to ensure coordinated care;
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records;
- Actively participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the oncology unit;
- Adhering to all policies, procedures, and national standards of practice.
REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant AHPRA registration;
- Minimum of 2-3 years' post-graduate experience in an oncology setting;
- Demonstrated experience in the safe administration of chemotherapy;
- Current intravenous cannulation competency;
- Strong understanding of oncology protocols, common chemotherapy regimens, and symptom management;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport with patients and families;
- Post-graduate qualifications in Oncology Nursing or a related field (desirable);
- Experience with central venous access device management (desirable);
- A commitment to continuous professional development.

The hospital, located in the Moreton Bay region, is a modern acute facility with 43 beds, 3 fully equipped operating theatres, a 12-chair Day Procedure Unit, and a comfortable day oncology unit. The hospital is equipped with modern technology and sees a wide variety of procedures across Orthopaedics, General, Gynaecology, Urology, Plastics, Maxillofacial, and Ophthalmology.
