An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) who is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey. This is a full-time leadership role within the Anaesthetics and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at a private hospital in Melbourne, offering a Monday to Friday roster with flexible shift opportunities.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide clinical leadership and operational support to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong clinical expertise in Anaesthetics and/or PACU nursing, excellent leadership capabilities and a commitment to continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to mentor and support staff, contribute to service development and play a key role in driving positive patient outcomes.

As the ANUM, you will be:

  • Providing clinical leadership and support to the Anaesthetics and PACU team;
  • Coordinating day-to-day operations to ensure efficient patient flow and safe staffing levels;
  • Delivering evidence-based nursing care in accordance with organisational policies, NSQHS Standards and professional requirements;
  • Supporting, mentoring and developing nursing staff through education, coaching and performance management;
  • Collaborating effectively with VMOs, anaesthetists, surgeons and multidisciplinary teams;
  • Assisting the Nurse Unit Manager with rostering, quality activities and operational initiatives;
  • Contributing to accreditation, quality improvement and risk management processes;
  • Promoting a positive workplace culture.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Current Registration with AHPRA;
  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification;
  • Working rights within Australia;
  • Extensive recent experience in Anaesthetics and/or PACU nursing;
  • Previous leadership experience at a senior nurse or ANUM level;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support clinical teams;
  • Strong understanding of patient safety, quality improvement and clinical governance principles;
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced perioperative environment;
  • Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing, Anaesthetics, Recovery or Leadership (desirable);
  • Knowledge of ACORN standards and contemporary perioperative practices;
  • Experience in workforce management and resource allocation (desirable);
  • Experience with electronic patient documentation systems;
  • Demonstrated involvement in quality improvement or accreditation activities (desirable).

REMUNERATION

$60.15 per hour.

The hospital, located in Melbourne, is a 127-bed acute facility offering patients a wide range of surgical, medical, maternity, mental health, and rehabilitation care. The hospital has 5 modern well, equipped interactive operating suites accommodating the following specialities: orthopaedics, gynaecology & obstetrics, urology, neurology, plastics, paediatrics, ENT, ophthalmology, general, and endoscopy.
