Operating Theatre Floor Coordinator | Melbourne

An outstanding opportunity awaits a highly motivated and skilled Operating Theatre Floor Coordinator to join the Perioperative Services team at a private hospital in Melbourne. Working 5 shifts per fortnight, the role offers 9-hour shifts with flexible shift times.

As Floor Coordinator, you will provide operational leadership across the perioperative service, supporting the delivery of evidence-based care while ensuring efficient management of people, resources and daily clinical operations. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in maintaining service excellence, driving quality improvement initiatives and fostering a positive team culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the day-to-day operations of the perioperative department;
• Leading and supporting nursing teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care;
• Managing staffing and resources to ensure efficient service delivery;
• Promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement;
• Supporting compliance with NSQHS Standards, accreditation requirements and workplace health and safety practices;
• Participating in quality improvement, risk management and patient safety initiatives;
• Contributing to staff development through coaching, mentoring and performance support;
• Building strong relationships with clinicians, patients, VMOs and other key stakeholders.

• Current registration with AHPRA;
• Bachelor of Nursing;
• Significant leadership or management experience within an acute hospital environment;
• Experience managing staff, resources and operational performance;
• Strong understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards;
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty area (desirable);
• Minimum five years' experience within Perioperative Services;
• Experience participating in accreditation activities (desirable);
• Knowledge of workforce planning, rostering and budgeting principles;
• Experience leading quality improvement and patient safety initiatives;
• Strong leadership and decision-making capability;
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
• Proven ability to coordinate clinical operations in a complex healthcare environment;
• A commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and evidence-based practice;
• Highly developed planning, prioritisation and organisational skills;
• Experience leading teams through change and improvement initiatives;
• A collaborative and customer-focused approach.
