Clinical Nurse Manager – Surgical | Perth

Working closely with the Deputy Director of Clinical Services Surgical Specialties, you will manage the unit day-to-day, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. Working closely with medical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams, you will lead and support staff while promoting a positive culture of teamwork, accountability, professional development and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in ensuring clinical standards, quality requirements and organisational objectives are consistently achieved while supporting an excellent experience for patients and their families.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Providing effective clinical and operational leadership for the nursing team;
• Ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred nursing care;
• Overseeing the day-to-day management and coordination of the unit;
• Leading, supporting and developing nursing staff to achieve clinical and professional standards;
• Promoting a positive and collaborative team culture;
• Ensuring appropriate staffing and resource management to support safe patient care;
• Monitoring patient care, clinical outcomes and compliance with relevant standards and policies;
• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives;
• Identifying and managing clinical risks and escalating issues appropriately;
• Collaborating with medical practitioners, allied health professionals and key stakeholders;
• Providing clinical support and guidance to nursing staff;
• Facilitating staff performance, education, development and competency requirements;
• Participating in recruitment, orientation and onboarding of staff as required;
• Managing patient and family concerns professionally and appropriately;
• Ensuring accurate clinical documentation and reporting requirements are maintained;
• Contributing to accreditation, clinical governance and quality improvement activities;
• Managing incidents, complaints and other clinical matters in accordance with hospital procedures;
• Promoting infection prevention and control, workplace health and safety, and risk management practices;
• Supporting the implementation of organisational policies, procedures and initiatives;
• Maintaining a strong focus on patient and family experience;
• Undertaking other duties as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.

REQUIREMENTS

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse;
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and management experience;
• Strong recent experience in an acute Surgical nursing environment;
• Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and problem-solving skills;
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse nursing team;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Strong organisational and time management skills;
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment;
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical governance;
• Understanding of relevant nursing standards, legislation, and healthcare requirements;
• Ability to build effective relationships with medical, nursing, allied health, and support teams;
• Demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations and resolve issues professionally;
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice;
• Strong computer literacy and ability to work with relevant clinical and administrative systems.
