Assistant Nurse Unit Manager – Coronary Care Unit | Melbourne

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and dynamic Assistant Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join and support the Coronary Care Ward at a private hospital in Melbourne. This part-time leadership role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care, support a high-performing team and foster a positive clinical environment. The successful candidate will have significant Coronary Care experience, along with previous leadership or supervisory experience.

As an ANUM, you will work collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Coronary Care Ward. You will play a crucial role in clinical leadership, staff development, and maintaining exceptional standards of patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team;
• Assisting the Nurse Unit Manager with daily ward operations, resource management, and rostering;
• Participating in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans;
• Mentoring and supporting nursing staff, including new graduates and junior team members;
• Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and relevant clinical standards;
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and risk management strategies within the unit;
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate comprehensive patient care and discharge planning;
• Managing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges effectively.

REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant qualifications and registration with AHPRA;
• Extensive clinical experience in Coronary or Critical Care;
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in a senior nursing role;
• A commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development;
• The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities;
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork;
• Relevant postgraduate studies are highly desirable.

REMUNERATION

$59.16 - $61.11 per hour + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.

The hospital, located in Melbourne, features 70 patient beds, four operating theatres, a cardiac catheterisation lab, a sleep study unit, a day chemotherapy unit, an on-site pharmacy, pathology, and medical imaging. The wide range of specialties available includes general medicine, cancer care, cardiac care, ENT, orthopaedics, IVF and fertility, vascular care, urology, nephrology, gastroenterology, general surgery, thoracic surgery, respiratory and sleep services, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
