A new opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Registered Nurse to step into a role as Perioperative ANUM of Orthopaedics on a permanent full-time basis at a private hospital located in the suburbs of Melbourne.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As the Orthopaedics ANUM, you will provide clinical leadership and operational support across our perioperative theatres, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You will work collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager, Floor Coordinators, surgeons and the broader multidisciplinary team to support day-to-day theatre operations, staff development and quality improvement initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing clinical and operational leadership within the perioperative unit, including undertaking in-charge and floor coordination duties;
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in workforce management, rostering, performance development and staff engagement;
- Maintaining high standards of clinical practice in accordance with organisational policy, ANZCA, ACORN and NSQHS Standards;
- Leading and participating in quality improvement initiatives, audits and portfolio work;
- Fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture;
- Collaborating effectively with Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient flow and outcomes;
- Supporting the education, mentoring and professional development of junior and developing staff.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registration with AHPRA;
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Operating Theatres / Perioperative Services;
- Previous ANUM, In-Charge, Acting or Floor Coordinator experience (highly desirable);
- Advanced clinical skills and demonstrated experience in orthopaedic perioperative nursing;
- Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing and/or Leadership & Management, or working towards (highly desirable);
- Demonstrated ability to lead, engage and develop staff;
- Strong communication, negotiation and decision-making skills;
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously using initiative and sound clinical judgement;
- Flexibility to participate in a rotating roster, including in-charge shifts, to meet operational requirements;
- Working knowledge of ANZCA, ACORN and NSQHS Standards.
