An exciting opportunity is available for a highly experienced Registered Nurse to join the leadership team at a private hospital in Melbourne as the Nurse Unit Manager of Maternity Services on a full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a busy maternity department comprising 18 postnatal beds, 8 Special Care Nursery cots, 3 birth suites, and 1 procedure room.

ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical practices and services to ensure exceptional patient outcomes, safety, and continuous quality improvement in line with best practice and legislative requirements. Working closely with Obstetricians, Paediatricians, Anaesthetists, and other key stakeholders, you will support the ongoing growth and excellence of the maternity service.

You will be responsible for the effective management and leadership of the department team, fostering a positive culture focused on high-quality patient care, teamwork, and outstanding customer service. Supporting families through some of life's most significant milestones, you will lead with compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.

Reporting directly to the Director of Clinical Services, you will work closely with the Executive team and play an integral role in the continued success of the department.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Current AHPRA registration;
  • Minimum five (5) years' post-graduate experience in a clinical setting;
  • At least three (3) years' experience within a birth suite, special care nursery, or maternity ward is essential;
  • Experience or exposure to managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering, and performance management;
  • Previous experience as a senior nurse or manager will be highly regarded;
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate patient care delivery;
  • Advanced clinical practice capability, with RANZCOG FSEP Level 3 Practitioner score highly desirable;
  • Strong leadership capability and confidence in delegating responsibilities and supporting team performance;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Demonstrated a high level of critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.

REMUNERATION

$68.76 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.

The Hospital, located in Melbourne's South-Eastern suburbs, is an acute 98-bed facility providing Medical, Surgical, and Maternity specialties and services. Specialties offered include General, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, with Early Parenting and Day Oncology units.
