About the Role
As Nurse Unit Manager for the Emergency Department, you'll provide strategic leadership and clinical direction to ensure the delivery of excellent patient and family-centred care. This pivotal role combines hands-on clinical expertise with operational management, leading a dedicated team within a 12-cubicle Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Emergency Department team
  • Deliver clinical operational direction to ensure efficient and effective department management
  • Coordinate evidence-based nursing care delivery across the ED
  • Ensure excellent patient and family-centred care in a team-focused environment
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to nursing staff
  • Manage the effective daily operation of human, financial, and material resources
  • Undertake direct patient care as required
  • Ensure compliance with ACSQHC National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and best practice implementation
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge in labour management and workforce planning

Essential Requirements

  • Current AHPRA Registered Nurse registration
  • Valid Working with Children check
  • Previous experience at Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) level or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification in critical care
  • Demonstrated experience in a critical care or emergency setting
  • Strong commitment to developing management capabilities
  • Demonstrated HR management experience
  • Sound knowledge base in labour management and rostering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to high standards of clinical and customer-focused care
  • High-level computer literacy including MS Office and various databases
  • Proven ability to work cohesively within a team environment

  • Management degree or currently working towards completion
