Nurse Unit Manager – Mental Health | Melbourne

An excellent opportunity is available for a highly experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse ready to assume the role of Nurse Unit Manager in the Mental Health Unit at a private hospital in Melbourne.

The position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital. 

• Current Registration with AHPRA  with experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing;
• Postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing;
• Strong leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams within an adult inpatient setting, including coordination of care and staff supervision, with an emphasis on fostering a positive team culture;
• Advanced clinical skills and knowledge in mental health nursing, committed to evidence-based and trauma-informed care, patient safety, and quality outcomes;
• Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage human, financial, and material resources to ensure effective unit operations and compliance with hospital policies;
• Experience in overseeing unit operations, providing direct patient care and hospital coordination, and responding flexibly to changing priorities in a dynamic environment;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to mentor staff and engage with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team;
• Commitment to a customer-focused approach, ensuring high standards of service delivery and patient satisfaction;
• Ability to align unit operations with the hospital's strategic objectives and contribute to ongoing improvement;
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and participation in relevant training, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives.
