An excellent opportunity is available for a compassionate and experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead a 26-bed Adult Mental Health Unit at a private hospital in Melbourne.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this key leadership role, you will champion the delivery of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred care, ensuring consumers are supported in a safe, respectful and empowering environment. You will lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team to promote hope, autonomy, dignity, and collaborative care, while maintaining excellence in clinical outcomes and operational performance.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership for the Mental Health Unit, embedding recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices;
- Ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and person-centred care, promoting consumer choice and participation;
- Fostering a culture of psychological safety, respect, and cultural sensitivity for consumers, families, and staff;
- Leading, supporting, and developing a skilled workforce committed to strengths-based and collaborative care;
- Promoting consumer and carer engagement in care planning and service improvement;
- Driving quality improvement, clinical governance, and risk management activities;
- Managing workforce planning, rostering, and resource allocation;
- Overseeing financial and operational performance, ensuring sustainable service delivery;
- Building strong partnerships with VMOs and multidisciplinary teams, enhancing continuity of care.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registration with AHPRA with experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing;
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing;
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a mental health setting;
- Strong understanding of recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and consumer-centred practice;
- Knowledge of clinical governance, safety, and quality standards;
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and support teams to deliver compassionate care;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills;
- Experience in the private healthcare sector;
- Formal leadership or management qualifications (desirable).

REMUNERATION
$70.93 per hour.
