A leadership opportunity is available for a dynamic, experienced and dedicated Nurse Unit Manager to provide exceptional clinical and operational leadership to the Special Care Nursery on a full-time basis at a private hospital in Western Sydney.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional, ready to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of excellence in woman-centred care. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, you will perform duties to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the care values and strategic direction of the Hospital.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a skilled team of midwives while ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to women and newborns across all shifts, including weekends and public holidays;
- Providing ongoing education, training, and mentorship to midwifery staff, fostering professional development and continuous learning;
- Driving clinical governance while ensuring safe, evidence-based care in line with best practice and regulatory standards;
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and foster a supportive work environment for staff.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Midwife;
- Experience in a management or senior leadership position;
- Demonstrated experience in Special Care Nursery/NICU;
- Proven ability to effectively plan and manage financial, human and material resources;
- Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a continuous improvement program;
- Ability to apply research findings to clinical practice;
- Passion for education and mentoring staff, with a demonstrated ability to provide hands-on training;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and the healthcare team;
- Ability to lead by example, instilling a culture of care, professionalism, and innovation.

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Western Sydney, is a modern facility with 12 Operating Theatres and two Cardiac Cath labs. The hospital performs a full range of elective surgeries, including cardiac, neurosurgery, urology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, colorectal, general, plastics, obstetrics, Paediatric, ENT, and Spinal Surgery. The 16-bed ICU provides specialised care for patients who require constant monitoring, intensive nursing care and advanced respiratory, cardiac and renal support therapies.
