An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced and highly motivated clinician to play a key role in coordinating and supporting the growth of robotic surgery services at a private hospital in Wollongong. This is a permanent full-time role.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Robotics Coordinator is an advanced clinical nursing role that combines administrative, clinical, technical, and educational responsibilities to facilitate the smooth operation, high utilisation, and clinical success of robotic surgery systems. The role focuses on supporting the improvement of the robotic surgery program's efficiency and clinical outcomes, and fostering a skilled, collaborative environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinating daily robotic surgery scheduling and resource allocation to support operational efficiency and patient flow;
  • Supporting workforce coordination, rostering practices, and operational planning within the perioperative environment;
  • Coordinating inventory management, equipment readiness, and maintenance of robotic systems;
  • Developing and maintaining robotic surgery policies, procedures, competency frameworks, and clinical protocols;
  • Monitoring and analysing quality, utilisation, and operational data to support continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Providing intraoperative robotic support and troubleshooting during robotic procedures;
  • Supporting onboarding, education, competency assessment, and ongoing development of perioperative staff and robotic surgery teams;
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with surgeons, perioperative teams, executive leadership, and external stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Current registration with AHPRA;
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience, with at least 3 years full-time equivalent in a relevant specialty field;
  • Demonstrated experience with robotic surgical systems is essential;
  • Deep understanding of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative workflow;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between clinical teams, executives, and external vendors;
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership capability and effectiveness within multidisciplinary teams;
  • Strong organisational skills, including scheduling, equipment oversight, training, coordination, and quality assurance;
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret program data and resolve equipment issues;
  • Adaptability and proficiency in change management, with a commitment to continuous learning;
  • Ability to foster a supportive learning environment that encourages staff development and professional growth;
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement and research that enhances clinical practice and supports change implementation (desirable).

ABOUT THE FACILITY 

The hospital, located in Wollongong, is a 171-bed private acute facility that provides all primary services, including an intensive care unit, 10 operating theatres, cardiac and vascular Labs, and an Endoscopy suite. Surgical specialities include Cardiothoracic, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, interventional cardiology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, Head and Neck, Gynaecological, Urology, Colorectal, upper GI, General, Vascular, and Plastics. The Maternity Unit is made up of 4 birth rooms, 25 postnatal beds, and 7 SCN bays.
