An exciting opportunity has become available for a Nurse Unit Manager to support the Perioperative Manager in leading the Anaesthetics Team at a private hospital in Newcastle. This is a permanent full-time role.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing leadership and direction to the department in alignment with the hospital's strategic direction, operational processes, budget, and business objectives;
- Providing operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management and coordinating the delivery of evidence-based nursing care;
- Being accountable and responsible for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources while ensuring optimal levels of customer service;
- Undertaking direct patient care as required and providing guidance and support to less experienced members of the nursing team;
- Working as part of the healthcare team, adhering to site policies, procedures, and key performance indicators;
- Participating in working parties and committees and demonstrating a commitment to continuous quality improvement through NSQHS, workplace health and safety, and hospital accreditation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registration with AHPRA;
- Working with Children Check;
- 4+ years Anaesthetics and PACU experience;
- Demonstrated experience being in charge of shifts;
- Current or previous ANUM or clinical nurse specialist experience;
- Post-graduate degree in relevant speciality area (or working towards);
- Sound clinical knowledge;
- Compliance with ACQSHC National standards & ACORN standards;
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills;
- Positive role modelling behaviours;
- Excellent customer service focus, time management and prioritisation;
- Ability to manage a dynamic and changing environment;
- High degree of computer literacy, including MS Office and various databases;
- Previous Experience with Rostering;
- Demonstrated stock inventory management.

ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Newcastle, is a 189-bed, acute, private facility with 11 theatres, including a hybrid theatre and a 15-bed Intensive Care Unit. A cardiac suite includes a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16-bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite, including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery, is available for families in the Newcastle region. The facility provides specialty care for individuals and their families undergoing cancer treatment and care with an inpatient unit and a day infusion lounge.
