Discover an exciting opportunity to advance your nursing career in Brisbane's thriving healthcare sector. We're recruiting for an experienced registered nurse to join a prestigious private hospital's Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit and Recovery team, where you'll play a vital role in patient care during critical recovery phases.

About This PACU Nursing Position

This permanent full-time role offers the chance to work in a state-of-the-art recovery unit, caring for patients as they transition from surgery back to consciousness. You'll be monitoring vital signs, managing pain relief protocols, and ensuring patient comfort during those crucial first hours post-surgery.

It's demanding work that requires clinical expertise and compassionate care, but the rewards of seeing patients recover successfully make it incredibly fulfilling.

Brisbane's growing healthcare landscape provides excellent opportunities for professional development, and this position places you at the centre of perioperative care excellence. You'll be working with cutting-edge monitoring equipment and following evidence-based recovery protocols that ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Your Daily Responsibilities

As a PACU registered nurse, you'll conduct comprehensive patient assessments, closely monitor recovery progress, and collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons, and the broader healthcare team. Your clinical skills will be essential in identifying potential complications early and responding appropriately to ensure patient safety throughout the recovery process.
You'll also have opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to the unit's continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves maintaining detailed patient records, communicating effectively with families about recovery progress, and ensuring all care meets the hospital's high clinical standards.

Essential Requirements

We're seeking a registered nurse with current AHPRA registration and substantial post-graduate experience in acute care settings. Previous PACU or recovery unit experience would be highly valued, though candidates with strong critical care backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound clinical decisions is essential.

Strong communication skills are crucial, as you'll be liaising with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams throughout your shifts. A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in post-anaesthetic care is also important.

Why Choose This Brisbane Hospital

This well-established private hospital offers excellent working conditions, competitive remuneration, and comprehensive benefits including flexible leave arrangements, professional development opportunities, and staff discounts on health services. The hospital's commitment to work-life balance means you can build a rewarding career whilst enjoying everything Brisbane has to offer.

The nursing team is known for their collaborative approach and supportive culture, making it an ideal environment for both experienced nurses and those looking to develop their PACU expertise further.
