A brand new opportunity exists for a passionate and motivated Nurse Unit Manager to oversee the Surgical Ward to join the Operating Theatre services department at a private hospital in Newcastle. It is a permanent Full-Time position.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As an experienced Nurse Unit Manager, you will oversee the Surgical Ward, a 22-bed unit.

This position will see you catering to a range of specialties and patients including orthopaedics, gynaecology, plastics, ENT, paediatric and general surgery. You will coordinate the admissions and discharge processes of the departments, and the daily management of nursing staff and other human resources.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Current APHRA registration;
  • At least 5 years of post-graduate surgical nursing experience;
  • Proven knowledge as a Senior nurse or Manager in a similar department or ward will be highly regarded;
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective role model in the area of clinical practice;
  • Post-graduate studies in an appropriate specialty or management qualifications will be highly regarded;
  • Experience or exposure to managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering, and performance management.

The hospital, located near Newcastle, provides Medical, Rehabilitation, Surgical & Mental Health Services. The hospital's main surgical focus is in Orthopaedics, Urology, General, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Faciomaxillary & Paediatrics. It has a Rehabilitation Unit with an experienced team of professionals who work together to assist in a patient's rehabilitation and is one of a few Private Hospitals in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie area with a Mental Health Unit and Outpatient Mental Health Day Programs.
